Our story began in 1936 as a Saw Mill and Post Office, known as J.A Allen, founded by James Alexander Allen. During those years the business also operated an apple peeling factory and general store. At the time of the Second World War, Mr Allen had developed a restaurant and dance hall on the first floor of the building, which was a popular attraction among the locals and American soldiers. In later years, when the business was in its second generation, run by Roy Allen, it was further developed into a retail Furniture store, The Shop. It was known for its unique Georgian Showrooms and fine furnishings, which today still holds some of the original character. 

Now in its third generation, run by Eloise Sherry, the shop has evolved into a life and style boutique and coffee shop. Whilst extensive renovations have been undertaken over the years to modernise the retail space, the original Post Office still inhabits at the forefront of the building. Eloise has over 15 years experience in the retail sector and most recently has a main focus within the fashion industry. She independently sources the current collections, which offer an everyday luxury experience.
